Sale and Storage of Pesticides

• WH Should be away from food and medicine storage area.
• Always store pesticide in its original packing.
• Should not be sold to minors below 18 years.
• Warning notice in the WH area must be displayed.
• WH area should be spark free and smoking free.
• WH area must be secure for any unauthorized person entry.
• Warning sign must be displayed around premises.

Handling Leakage and Spillage

• Pesticides received in damaged containers must be kept separately and returned to the supplier or disposed of.
• A notice with the words "NOT FOR SALE" in the local language(s) with letters of a minimum height of 10cm, must be placed above these containers.
• Leakage and spillage facilities such as buckets with lime, sawdust or clay, empty containers, spade and adequate water supply for cleaning of pesticide spillage.
• If pesticides are spilt they must be cleaned immediately.

Storage in Godown

• WH must be away from residential area, food, medicine factories and water sources like river.
• GODOWN must have good ventilation.
• Tem. Of the WH must not increase above 55 degree Celsius.
• If Fertilizers stored in the same premises it should be separated from pesticides.
• Record of every transaction and storage must be updated on regular basis.
• Guidelines of First aid and fire fighting to be displayed. Emergency contact details must be displayed

Transportation

• Should not be shipped along with food items, medicines, toys, clothing's, cosmetics or household furnishings.
• Pesticides should not be carried in passenger compartments of transport vehicles.
• Vehicle-attendants should not ride with a pesticide cargo.
• Vehicles transporting pesticides should carry "hazard warning or cautionary notices", prominently displayed.
• Pesticides should at all times during transport be kept tightly secure and covered.
• Proper inspection should be there before loading.
• Personnel, especially supervisory persons, should be trained in appropriate first-aid and rescue procedures.
